Why Local Flowers Matter

Canada imported $137.8 million in cut flowers and buds for ornamental purposes in 2020, largely from Colombia, Ecuador, the U.S. and the Netherlands, according to Agriculture Canada's Statistical Overview of the Canadian Ornamental Industry. The reality of the global flower industry is that the bulk of our flowers are grown in the overseas and transported worldwide in refrigerated cargo jets and trucks, then wrapped in plastic.
With the exception of snapdragons, wholesale flowers will not come wrapped. Bunches and bouquets that are wrapped will be wrapped in recycled kraft paper. Seedlings and plants are grown in reusable pots and customers are encouraged to return their empty pots to be washed and reused next year.
Thanks to our small size, we're able to harvest to order. Flowers are harvested during the optimal stage of development and conditioned within 48 hours of pickup or delivery. This means you'll get the longest life out of every bloom.
